NODA JUNIOR & YOUNG RIDER GOALS

With the start of every New Year, human beings make resolutions that they hope to fulfill in the coming year.
NODA’s JR/YR’s are accomplished young individuals, who have exceptional dreams.
Our JR/YR Newsletter Report, Clara Etzel, asked a few of NODA’s JR/YR’s to dictate their riding goals for 2008 and here they are!

UPDATED FOR APRIL 2008:  My name is Rachael Horton and my horses are Primeur and Elektra. I am currently planning on training with Betsy Steiner in New Jersey this Summer. It has been/will be an honor to have the opportunity to train with Betsy. It is one of the most amazing, positive experiences of a lifetime. I am very grateful for the guidance Betsy has given me and continues to give me in riding and life. My main goal is to be solidly training/maybe showing 4th level and PSG towards the end of summer or fall, on both horses. This  will help me with my 2009 goal -- which is to be selected for the Region 2 Young Rider Team.  Thanks for taking an interest in my goals and good luck to everyone!

HI ~ I am 11 year old Alyssa Cavett.  My goals for the year are to finally get the horses of our dreams.  I am also hoping to do more training with my trainer, Kelli Flannagan.  I was also hoping to do more new things with Monaco, one of Kelli's horses.  Monaco is such a good boy; I know he will be good for me.  We have been looking for a horse for about two months, and are so close!  We look on sights everyday and have found some nice horses.  We are just steps away from our new horse.  I was also hoping to do training level test 2.  I am still working on my skills!

Hi, my name is Briana Cavett.  I'm 13 yrs old and my future goals for 2008 are big, but are completely do able.  To start of we are in search of our dream horse, we have a few we are going to look at in Michigan and I have a good feeling about them and hope we get lucky.  I am and will be in training with Kelli Flannagan at Grand Prix farms.  My hope is to go through first level all the way through second.  I'd like to relax and hang with my horse but I’ll always be doing the barn chores and be helping out.  I’m ambitious about next year and know that we're going to have so much fun. I hope to see everyone at shows next year and wish you all good luck.

My name is Rachel Dombeck.  My goals for this show season are to get the scores that I need to go to Regionals and to be nominated for the end of the year awards.

Hi-  I’m Clara Etzel and my horse is Reggie.  This year I will continue training with Joanne White and clinicing with Roy Toppings.  I would like to qualify for the
2nd level UDSF Championship and possibly try 3rd level.  Reggie and I have progressed so far and I can’t wait to see where we go this year!

Colin Gaffney rides Merrylegs a 19 year old grey pony.  He would like to obtain his D2 rating in Bath Pony Club.  He participates in Tetrathalon and Eventing Rallies.  He attended Pony Club Camp and rides in a few dressage shows with his mom.

Hi my name is Cindy Sender and my horse is Charlie!  This winter Charlie and I will be going to Florida again.  While we're down there I’m hoping to be in a few shows.  In 2008 I would like to qualify for the 3rd level championships.   Another goal I have is to work with my mom's 3 year old paint and get him to some schooling shows!

~Emily Staadecker~  One of my goals is to compete in my first fourth level test.  I was going to do this at the previous Lake Erie College show in November, but Wyatt got pretty sick with a staph infection and I was unable to participate with him.  Since then he has recovered nicely and I have been riding with Gretchan Singleton.  This summer I hope to continue my training with Nancy Smith and Mary Anne Milleman.  I am anxiously waiting for the results of my college applications.  Whichever college I attend I plan to take Wyatt in order to continue the Dressage.  I want to pursue an Equine Management or Training degree of some sort. Ultimately my goal is to study in Europe, but that might not be in 2008.  These are my current goals.
