2010 GUIDELINES & INFORMATION

  • Awards open to all NODA Members 

  • Awards presented at the 2010 Annual Awards Banquet -- November 20 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Independence, Ohio 

  • Submission of 2010 Scores must be Postmarked by OCTOBER 23, 2010  

  • Scores must be sent on the official report form and include copies of the Dressage Test Cover Page
    OR a USDF Score Check.

  • Scores obtained from Opportunity Classes (offered at NODA Recognized Competitions) may only be submitted for Unrecognized Year-End Awards.

  • Everyone must submit FOUR (4) NODA BUCKS with their 2010 Awards Application for each horse/rider combination. 
    This includes Professionals, Adult Amateurs, Young Riders and Junior Riders.

  • Separate forms must be completed for each division or award.  
    ALL SCORES, including those from NODA schooling shows, MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE COMPETITOR

  • Competition Report Form can be found in your 2010 NODA Handbook and on this webpage.

    If a receipt is desired, please include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope).

  • All association trophies are rotating unless otherwise noted.  Winner may have possession for eleven months,
    at which time trophy must be returned, in "as received" condition, to NODA.

  • NODA reserves the right to present additional awards or to replace any trophies withdrawn by sponsors.

  • In the event that new awards or revisions to the Awards Program should become available during the competition year, complete information and eligibility requirements will be published in the NODA newsletter and on the official website www.nodarider.org.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS & NODA BUCKS   In order to be eligible for year-end awards, riders must donate four (4) hours of their time during the season.   Volunteers earn NODA bucks for their donated time.   Four (4) NODA bucks required to submit Competition Report Form(s).  Go to VOLUNTEER page for more information and details.

USEF RECOGNIZED DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS

Year End Championship ribbons, awards and scholarships in the amount of $75.00 each will be awarded to the rider/horse combination with the highest average score in each of the following divisions. Ribbons will be awarded to tenth place. One (1) score from four (4) different judges is required. (If the test score is from a panel of judges, the combined average score is the only score that can be submitted.)  Freestyle and Young Horse scores may not be used. A horse and rider combination who has previously won a year end championship is no longer eligible for awards at that level or lower level.

The Alessandria Memorial Trophy
given by Lisa Gorretta and The Paddock Saddlery in memory of her Swedish Warmblood mare “Alessandria”. Awarded to the horse/rider with the highest average score at the FEI levels (PSG through Grand Prix combined) using four (4) scores from four (4) different judges.

  

The Jane Grey Trophy given by Lisa Gorretta in memory of her thoroughbred mare, Jane Grey aka “She’s Long Gone”. Awarded to a “second career” thoroughbred that raced and then competed in dressage with the highest average based upon four (4) scores from four (4) different judges in recognized competition at Second Level or above.  Scores from different levels of competition may be combined.  A copy of the registration papers AND documentation of a racing record must accompany submitted scores.
 
 


The Michael von der Nonne Trophy
given by Dagmar Zimmerman in memory of a dressage pioneer in Northeast Ohio, to the rider/horse with the highest median score at First Level using three (3) scores from three (3) different judges.

 

Musical Freestyle:
A single combined division of freestyle competitors will be awarded ribbons first through tenth, based upon the highest average of three (3) scores earned from three (3) different judges in recognized dressage competitions.



The Randeck Memorial Trophy
given by Carey Smith-Wilson to the adult amateur with the highest average scores based upon four (4) scores in three (3) shows from different judges in recognized competition at 4th level or above. Scores from Different levels of competition may be combined.



The Richard Gascoigne Memorial Trophy given by Bitsy Gascoigne and Ann Gascoigne Nixon in memory of Richard Gascoigne. Awarded to the Adult Amateur rider/horse with the highest average at Second Level or above in recognized competition, based upon four (4) scores from four (4) different judges at recognized dressage competitions.


The Richter 5 Trophy given by Maggie Ball to the arabian or half-arabian horse ridden by an Adult Amateur, Junior, Young Rider, or Professional with the highest average based upon four (4) scores from four (4) different judges at any level at recognized dressage competitions.   Scores from different levels of competition may be combined.  A copy of the registration papers or a written verification of lineage must accompany the submitted scores.

 
The Sindarin Trophy given by Dale Lappert in memory of her thoroughbred stallion, Sindarin. Awarded to the thoroughbred or half-thoroughbred horse with the highest average based upon four (4) scores from four (4) different judges at any level at recognized dressage competitions.   Scores from different levels of competition may be combined.  A copy of the registration papers or a letter verifying lineage must accompany the submitted scores.

RECOGNIZED & UNRECOGNIZED (SCHOOLING) DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS

Freestyle Award Trophy- Adult Amateur, Owner/Trainer given by Ledge Hollow Stable.   Awarded to the adult amateur rider who has attained the highest average score of at least two (2) scores under two (2) different judges (any level freestyle, though both test fronts submitted must be the same level).  The test fronts may be from any two shows, schooling or recognized.  The rider must be primarily responsible for the training of the horse at the level submitted.  Submit test fronts and the Freestyle Award Declaration Form with your 2010 Competition Report Form.    This award is a non-rotating trophy that is awarded permanently to the recipient.   
   

The Gallant Lad Trophy  given by Margaret McElhany of Valley Riding Inc. recognizes the outstanding performance by the vintage horse (15 years or older). Scores may come from the NODA Recognized Show or NODA schooling shows. Award is based upon three (3) scores from three (3) different judges at any level of competition.  Scores from different levels of competition may be combined.   A copy of registration papers or a letter stating the horse’s age must be submitted with the scores.  

 

The Gretchen Singleton Vintage Award Trophy   given by Kathy Dennis and Sally Gries in honor and memory of Gretchen Singleton.  It will be awarded to the high scoring Adult Amateur rider who was 50 years or older when the scores were earned.  Award is based on four (4) scores from four (4) different judges from Recognized or Unrecognized competitions.  Scores can be a combination of scores from multiple levels.  Birth date of rider must be submitted.   


The Moody Mare Trophy given by Kimberly Moody.  This award is for a Baroque or Baroque-Cross Horse (Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner, and Lusitano) shown by the owner.  Owner can be an Adult Amateur, Junior/Young Rider or Professional.  Scores may be from Recognized or Unrecognized shows at any level of competition.  The award will be given to the highest average score based on four (4) scores from four (4) different judges.  A copy of registration papers must accompany the submitted scores. 
 

The Joan Rapp Trophy given by Gail Patton in memory of Joan, the founding President of NODA, who taught at Red Raider for many years.  It is awarded to the horse trained and ridden by a non-professional who best demonstrates that dressage training benefits a horse in all disciplines.  In addition to sending 3 scores from three (3) different judges (from recognized, NODA, or NODA approved schooling shows) evidence of winning three (3) ribbons (1st, 2nd or 3rd place) in one or more riding disciplines other than Dressage must be submitted. Driving classes may count. If combined training results are included, placing must be from the entire event, not just the dressage phase.
