Each Official 2008 Competition
Report Form submitted must include copies of the dressage test
fronts or a USDF score check.

submit (4) NODA BUCKS (**).

completed for each division or award.

All association trophies are
rotating unless otherwise noted. Winner may have possession for
eleven months, at which time trophy must be returned, in as received
condition, to NODA.

NODA reserves the right to
present additional awards or to replace any trophies withdrawn by
sponsors.

VOLUNTEERING:
In order to be eligible for annual awards, riders must donate 4
hours of their time during the season. Hours can be earned by working
at schooling shows, recognized show and clinics, by submitting
Newsletter articles, helping with mailings or doing committee work.
Volunteers earn NODA bucks for their time. Four NODA bucks must be
submitted with your Official Report From to be considered for our NODA
Awards. See the NODA newsletter or web site for details.

RECOGNIZED DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS
Scholarships:
Championship ribbons, awards and scholarships in the amount of
$75.00 each will be awarded to the rider/horse combination
with the highest average score in each of the following
divisions. Ribbons will be awarded to tenth place.
One score from 4 different judges is required. Freestyle
scores may not be used.

Alessandria
Memorial Trophy:
given
by Lisa Gorretta and The Paddock Saddlery in memory of her
Swedish Warmblood mare “Alessandria”. Awarded to the
horse/rider with the highest average score at the FEI levels (PSG
through Grand Prix combined) using 4 scores from 4 different
judges.
Jane
Grey Trophy:
given
by Lisa Gorretta in memory of her thoroughbred mare, Jane Grey
aka “She’s Long Gone”. Awarded to a “second career”
thoroughbred that raced and then competed in dressage with the
highest average based upon 4 scores from 4 different judges in
recognized competition at Third Level or above. A copy of the
registration papers AND documentation of a racing record must
accompany submitted scores.
Michael
von der Nonne Trophy:
given
by Dagmar Zimmerman in memory of a dressage pioneer in
Northeast Ohio, to the rider/horse with the highest median
score at First Level using 3 scores from 3 different judges.
Musical Freestyle:
A
single combined division of freestyle competitors will be
awarded ribbons first through tenth, based upon the highest
average of 3 scores earned from 3 different judges in
recognized dressage competitions.

Randeck Memorial Trophy:
given
by Carey Smith-Wilson to the adult amateur with the highest
average scores based upon 4 scores in 3 shows from different
judges in recognized competition at 4th level or above.

Richard
Gascoigne Memorial Trophy:
given
by Bitsy Gascoigne and Ann Gascoigne Nixon in memory of
Richard Gascoigne. Awarded to the adult amateur rider/horse
with
the highest average at Second Level or above in
recognized competition, based upon 4 scores from 4 different
judges at recognized dressage competitions

Richter
5 Trophy:
given by Maggie Ball to the Arabian or half Arabian horse
ridden by an Adult Amateur, Junior/Young rider, or
Professional with the highest average, based upon four scores
from four different judges, at any level, at recognized
dressage competitions. A copy of the registration papers or a
written verification of lineage must accompany the submitted
scores

Sindarin
Trophy:
ggiven
by Dale Lappert in memory of her thoroughbred stallion
Sindarin. Awarded to the thoroughbred or half thoroughbred
horse with the highest average based upon 4 scores from 4
different judges at any level at recognized dressage
competitions. A copy of the registration papers or a letter
verifying lineage must accompany the submitted scores.

DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS
Joan
Rapp Trophy
given
by Gail Patton in memory of Joan, the founding president of
NODA, who taught at Red Raider for many years. It is awarded
to the horse trained and ridden by a non-professional who best
demonstrates that dressage training benefits a horse in all
disciplines. In addition to sending 3 scores from 3 different
judges (from recognized, NODA, or NODA approved schooling
shows) evidence of winning 3 ribbons (1st, 2nd or 3rd place)
in one or more riding disciplines other than Dressage must be
submitted. Driving classes may count. If combined training
results are included, placings must be from the entire event,
not just the dressage phase.

The
Gallant Lad Trophy
recognizes the outstanding performance by the vintage horse
(15 years or older). Scores may come from the NODA recognized
show or NODA schooling shows. Award is based upon 3 scores
from 3 different judges at any level of competition. A copy of
registration papers or a letter stating the horse’s age must
be submitted with the scores.
The
Moody Mare Award
given
by Kimberly Moody. This award is for a Baroque or
Baroque-Cross Horse (Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner, and
Lusitano) shown by the owner. Owner can be an Adult Amateur,
Jr/Young Rider or Professional. Scores may be from Recognized
or Unrecognized shows at any level of competition. The award
will be given to the highest average score based on 4 scores
from 4 different judges. A copy of registration papers must
accompany the submitted scores.

Award
Eligibility Requirements for Non-NODA Schooling Dressage Shows
Scores are
eligible for submission if the dressage schooling show meets
the following criteria: 1. The show is open to all NODA members and it has been
advertised in the NODA newsletter or calendar or a
prize list has been sent to all NODA members. 2. The judge must hold a current USEF dressage judge license
OR have held a card in the past OR be a USDF "L" Program
graduate. 3. Riders who submit scores from Introductory classes held at
non-NODA schooling shows may specify whether these scores are
to be counted for Introductory Level-Rider or Introductory
Level-Horse (but not both) awards. 4. Novice Training Level riders who compete at non-NODA shows
not offering Novice classes may submit Training Level scores
towards Novice awards.
Scholarships:
Scholarships
Added for 2008.
Championship ribbons, awards and scholarships in the amount of
$50.00 each will be awarded to the rider/horse combination
with the highest average score in each of the following
divisions. Ribbons will be awarded to tenth place.
Four scores from four different judges (2nd level and above
only 3 scores) are required.
Exception: For equitation and for 2nd Level and
above, only 3 scores are required.
Freestyle
scores may not be used.

The
Fox Smith Trophy
donated by Lynn Fry in memory of Fox Smith of Red Raider Camp
to recognize outstanding achievement in Walk-Trot and/or
Dressage Seat Equitation. The award is given to the high point
equitation rider who has competed in at least two NODA
schooling shows. Points are awarded as follows: 1st place - 7
pts; 2nd – 5 pts; 3rd – 4 pts; 4th – 3 pts; 5th – 2 pts; 6th –
1 pt. A separate equitation form is required (see NODA
Handbook or web site). List show name, judge, placing, and
have show secretary sign to verify.
Laddie
Andahazy Memorial Trophy
sponsored by Gretchen Singleton on behalf of NODA and given in
memory of Laddie Andahazy, a longtime member, judge and
driving force in the equestrian community, perhaps most
noticeably at Lake Erie College. It is given to the adult
amateur dressage rider who was a novice at the beginning of
the competition season and performed exceptionally well in our
NODA schooling shows. Two scores from two different judges at
NODA schooling shows must be submitted.
The
Sweeter Award
is donated by Janeen Langowski to recognize outstanding effort
by a junior novice rider. The award is based upon the highest
score obtained at the NODA Schooling Show Championship plus
the (3) highest scores earned in a novice class from (2)
different NODA schooling shows. This award is a non-rotating
trophy that is awarded permanently to the recipient
The Rowdy Memorial Trophy:
given
by Cheryl Lee to recognize outstanding effort by an adult
amateur competitor. The award is based upon the score obtained
at the NODA schooling show championship plus the highest score
earned at a NODA schooling show.

MORE AWARDS
The Edy
Ujczo Horse Partnership Trophy
Awarded annually by Regina Sacha to an
individual who provides outstanding emotional, grooming,
ground or economic
support
to a NODA rider. The individual must be a tireless
support of a rider's dressage pursuits, who is an essential
"behind the scenes" caregiver to horse and rider, offering
tireless encouragement, motivation and assistance.
To
be considered for the award, please submit one-page or less
summary of why someone should be considered for the award.
Must include name of person
recommending and relationship (i.e., husband, partner, friend,
etc.). All
entries to be mailed to Regina Sacha via email
regina.sacha@sbcglobal.net
for consideration, or snail mail to: Regina Sacha, 7619
McCreary Road, Seven Hills, OH 44131. All entries
must be postmarked October 31, 2008 or before.
Events
/ Horse Trials:
Ribbons to 6th place will be awarded to the horse/rider
combinations with the best averages earned in the dressage
phase of recognized USEF/USEA events, horse trials, or
schooling events. One score from three different judges
at any level required. A copy of the entire score sheet
showing points earned (not just the penalty points) including
judge's signature must be submitted. The judge must meet
the NODA's criteria for Unrecognized Dressage Competitions.
Achievement Certificates
will be given to any rider/horse
combinations with three scores of 58% or better at any level
from three different judges at either recognized or
unrecognized competition who have not placed in any of the
previously listed awards.
